Resolved Question: Dear musicians..? How to become a great musician.?

I'm 19 yrs old, I was born in India, and grew up there. Now I'm in USA Seattle WA. I love music especially guitar.. I play it since I was 6 yrs old.. As I grew up I keep interest in it.., but my parents never want me to become a musician.. They never let me take any lessons even though I asked a hundred times.. I love rock music, metals and keep listening to them. My dream is still to become a great guitarist, form a rock band..??!! But I don't even know how to play with notes right now, but I hope I can pick up fast.. Now I'm in USA without my parent control.. I'm planning to join college in Kent WA, If I take music at college do you guys think that I can become a good guitarist and success in it.. OR can you show me another way..?? thx dear frens.....
